I've recently started reading my way through these versions after so many years of being exposed to the Jim Dale versions. I still like the sheer variety of different voices Jim Dale came up with but that being said Stephen's versions are still good. One more technical aspect of these versions that I find kind of cool is the echo effect he adds occasionally for things like the basilisk or whenever Harry remembers another character's words from earlier on.

For all who fell in love with Stephen's narration of HP books and would like to hear more of his work set in good old Britain, I can recommend his narration of all Sherlock Holmes stories (56 short stories and 4 novels) by sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
